How to make delicious Shahi Tukda recipe at home?


Shahi Tukra is an Indian dessert that is rich and sinful. It is made of fried bread slices that are soaked in a sweetened milk mixture and topped with nuts. It is believed that the name "Shahi Tukra," which literally translates to "royal piece," originated in India during the Mughal era. Ingredients:

  • 6 slices of white bread
  • 2 cups of whole milk
  • 1 cup of heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1/4 cup of water
  • 1/4 cup of chopped pistachios
  • 1/4 cup of sliced almonds
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cardamom powder 
  • Oil or ghee for frying

Instructions to make:

  1. To begin, slice the bread into quarters or halves by trimming the edges.
  2. Heat oil or ghee in a profound dish and broil the bread cuts until they are brilliant brown and firm. Place the fried bread slices on a paper towel to absorb any remaining oil after draining the excess oil.
  3. Heat the heavy cream and milk together in a separate pan to a boil. Allow to simmer for 10 to 15 minutes on low heat, stirring occasionally.
  4. Stir the milk mixture with the sugar, cardamom powder, and sliced almonds until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  5. The fried bread slices should be dipped in the milk mixture and allowed to soak for a few seconds. Make sure the milk mixture completely covers them.
  6. Pour the remaining milk mixture over the bread slices that have been soaked and arrange them on a serving dish.
  7. Bring the sugar and water to a boil in a separate pan. The sugar syrup will thicken as it simmers for a few minutes.
  8. Sprinkle chopped pistachios on top of the sugar syrup that has been poured over the bread slices.
  9. Before serving, place the Shahi Tukra in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow it to set and cool. You can now serve your delicious Shahi Tukra.
