For the Chocolate Filling:

  • 8 ounces chopped semi-sweet chocolate

  6. Prepare the cream puffs for 20-25 minutes, until they are puffed up and brilliant brown. Allow cooling completely after removing from the oven.
  7. Make the chocolate filling while the cream puffs are cooling. Heat the heavy cream to a simmer in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  8. Add the chopped chocolate, salt, and vanilla extract after removing the pan from the heat. Stir until the mixture is smooth and the chocolate is completely melted.
  9. Allow the chocolate mixture to cool to room temperature before transferring it to a bowl. Cover the bowl and put it in the refrigerator for at least an hour after it has cooled.
  10. Use a pastry bag or a spoon to fill the cooled cream puffs with the chocolate filling after it has chilled.
